Study programme: Physiotherapy

Study mode: full time
Programme duration: 3 years

This three year course is for students that completed adequate secondary school with certificate.

This physiotherapy course has taken place at the Department of rehabilitation studies at the Faculty of Health Care Studies, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009. The aim of this course is to support our students to become allied health care professions in accordance with law no. 96/2004 which defines and guarantees the standards for this healthcare profession in Czech Republic.

Our graduates are equipped to diagnose a dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. They are able to use specific kinesiology analyses and approaches, moreover they are able to measure range of motion of joints and muscle strength, and analyse pathological movement patterns, stereotypes and locomotion of the patients. All these tools and techniques help them to identify correct diagnose and simultaneously to create individual client centred oriented treatment plan, including ergonomic advisory.

Physiotherapists carry out specific therapy, where they use non-invasive therapeutic interventions. The interventions mainly focus on movement and exercise programmes (active and passive movements), manual therapies, specific techniques and concepts (thermotherapy, magnetic therapy, electrotherapy) and manual reflexive therapy. Finally, through the process of rehabilitation they re-evaluate and re-assess the client with the aim to provide the best evidence based therapy. The medical documentation is kept and updated through the entire process.
