This radiologist assistant course has taken place at the Department of paramedic science, medical diagnostics studies and public health at the Faculty of health care studies, University of West Bohemia since 2008/2009.
This study programme is well designed, thus our graduates are able to complete independently radiological procedures, medical imaging and application of ionising radiation within the multidisciplinary team in healthcare settings, veterinary and research laboratories.
Our graduates are prepared and able to work as a regulated health care professional, the competences set for this profession are in accordance with the law no. 96/2004, with the options for further changes and conditions when working as allied healthcare professionals and providing the healthcare care in accordance with other law no. 391/2017.
Radiologist assistant is a professional that obtains a uni degree and thus has adequate competences to carry on all radiological procedures and medical imaging in all healthcare settings and nuclear medicine. They are also able to work with modern medical devices such as computer tomography, ultrasonography, positron emission tomography.
The important role of a radiological assistant is to ensure the accurate patient positioning techniques, utilise radiographic exposure factors to optimize image quality and minimize patient dose and practice radiation protection principles for patient and occupational safety.
